Committee Positions & Openings

Advocacy Committee

  • Thomas Hacku, OTR. Chair

Members are needed to reach out to persons with hand therapy interests, educators, and philanthropic businesses to share the message of the Texas Society for Hand Therapy.

This committee works closely with the President to create a successful experience for members and the community.       

TSHT members may serve on the Outreach committee if total membership is paid in full.  To chair the committee, a CHT license is encouraged but not required. Committee members may attend the Summer Annual Board Meeting in June and the Educational Board Meeting at the Annual Conference in March.

Volunteer time commitment for this committee is 5 hours per month including  4-6 conference calls during a calendar year.

 

Awareness Committee

  • Carina Hill, OTR. Chair

Description:

This committee keeps updated education information for both members and the public.  They work with grant awareness and work with hand therapy awareness during the National Hand Therapy Awareness week.

TSHT members may serve on the awareness committee if total membership is paid in full.  To chair the committee, a CHT license is encouraged but not required. Committee members may attend the Summer Annual Board Meeting in June and the Educational Board Meeting at the Annual Conference in March.

Volunteer time commitment for this committee is mostly spent in May for preparation of hand therapy week as well as 2-5 hours per month during the year for grant awareness.   4-6 conference calls during a calendar year are optional but suggested.

 


Social Media Committee

Kelsey Tzobanakis, OTR, CHT. Chair

Description:

This committee is responsible for creating visuals and writing content for Texas Society for Hand Therapy’s website and Facebook. Activities for this committee include:

  • Develop content for the TSHT website that is current, fresh and inviting
  • Post job openings, find a therapist, and sponsorships
  • Write content and choose photos/videos for TSHT Facebook page with Newsletter Editor
  • Meet with President to ensure all articles and information reflect current rules and regulations of the Society

TSHT members may serve on the Social Media Committee if total membership is paid in full.  To chair the committee, experience with social media is required. Committee members may attend the Summer Annual Board Meeting in June and the Educational Board Meeting at the Annual Conference in March.

Volunteer time commitment for this committee is 5 hours  per month including  4-6 conference calls during a calendar year.

Education/Conference Committee 

Kay Youngblood, OTR, CHT.  Chair

Description

The committee is responsible to act as consultants to the Incoming Education Coordinator as soon as he/she accepts the position to plan, coordinate and organize the annual educational seminar within budget.

  • Act as a consultant to choose the Conference venue in conjunction with the help of Angela Feinstein.
  • Act as a consultant to review the Hotel contract and to choose the best venue within budget.
  • Act as a consultant to discuss possible speakers and to manage their payment and transportation within budget.
  • Help planning the speaker’s contracts and remind the incoming educator about getting the speakers’ bios, objectives, and presentations on time.
  • Advice on appointing meeting assistants and conference committees.
  • Help to arrange vendors/sponsors’ contracts (all forms are in the Education Coordinator Dropbox).
  • Act as a consultant on completing the Brochure before Registration starts online.
  • Act as a consultant on registration and flow of the conference logistics.
  • Act as a consultant on Door Prices and Gifts of Appreciation for presenting at the annual meeting within budget.
  • Create a checklist to follow before the conference
  • Will receive ½ price of annual conference registration. Attending the Summer and Annual board meeting is optional, as well as phone meetings. The term of the position is 3 years.
