Shining Star Award Recipients

2025 Recipient: Christy Knight

Christy graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with a B.S.O.T. in 1998. She has been a practicing OT for 27 years and is celebrating 20 years this year as a CHT. Obtained Manual therapy Certification for the Upper Extremity in 2014

Christy has been working with the Select/Baylor Family for the past 23 years, most of which has been in the Austin, TX area and has relocated in the past 4 years to the North Texas Region to establish a hand therapy program in the Weatherford/Aledo area. Christy Served as TSHT board member from 2013? to 2017 as Newsletter Editor/Board Member at Large.

She has had a passion for clinical education and has been a Fieldwork educator for over 20 years, establishing a consistent OT student/Hand Therapy Program in the Austin Market. She has participated in mentorship programs for Junior therapists and most recently has been involved in the development and implementation of the Baylor Scott and White Institute of Rehab. Hand Therapy Fellowship which is now in its 2nd year.

In her spare time, Christy and her husband of 30 years enjoy their new status as empty nesters of two amazing young adults. Christy enjoys cooking, working out and her latest adventure of raising an Australian Shepherd puppy.
