Distinguished in Excellence and Education Award Recipients

2020 Recipient: Matthew Wymore, OTD, OTR, CHT, COMT

Matthew Wymore graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science in 1999 from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a Clinical Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) in 2002 from Creighton University.  He became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2007. He became a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist Upper Quadrant in 2011, acquired a clinical instructor certification from AOTA in 2013,  and dry needling for hand therapy in 2017.  

He currently works for West Texas Rehabilitation Center in San Angelo, Texas as Assistant Director of adult therapy services, Assistant Supervisor to adult occupational, physical, and speech therapy, and works with local area high school and college athletes. 

He has been awarded the Boys and Girls Club Mentor of the Year in 2008, Sarpy County Leadership graduate in 2009, Leadership San Angelo graduate in 2011, 40 and Under Leadership Award-San Angelo in 2013, Outstanding Lecture-Angelo State University Physical Therapy Program in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and Top Clinical Poster Award at the 2017 TSHT annual conference.

He has taught many continuing education courses, teaching the orthotic fabrication class for the Angelo State doctoral physical therapy students, and is an adjunct clinical professor of physical therapy at Angelo State University.

Matthew was the Treasurer of the West Plains and District Representative of the Great Plains West for the Texas Occupational Therapy Association.  He published in the 2016 issue of News at Hand, the quarterly newsletter for the TSHT and presented at the 2019 TSHT annual conference, presented posters in 2017 and 2018, and was the recipient of the Best Clinical Poster in 2017.
